So when I came to Tokyo somebody told me that PauseTalk was good, but that isn't happening anymore. And Ride The Lightning is on a break from the current format - but is supposedly returning.

I go to UX talk whenever I can, I really enjoy it.

I know about the monthly Hacker news meetup, it's great but for me sometimes a bit too developer-y. The same counts for the iOS developer meetup (actually I never went because it's on a Saturday morning).

I went to a nice Tokyo Cheapo event last week but that nothing to do with design at all. So where are those design related events? Is everyone in an obon-sleep or what?

It would be nice to have a calendar or directory of design-related events on Canvas!

Imo it's overkill to have such a feature if it could just be an (editable) discussion topic where the first post is the one that lists the events.

Regarding format, we're thinking that a casual standing event at the Tacchi office might work well as a first run, perhaps with an "open mic" style flash presentation section for anyone who wants to show anything they're working on or have created?

Regarding food and drinks, we're wondering how people would feel about contributing ¥1,000 on entry and we'll get a load of beers, wine, pizza, snacks etc?
