This is a short story about finding comfort, friendship, and love in distance. I wanted to explore the idea that as population density rises, so to does the feeling of loneliness. At the same time, I feel many of us enjoy a feeling of connection with others, but we're not always sure about how to initiate that connection. Paper planes, then, felt just random and spontaneous enough to be almost believable.

Anyway, it was a real honor for me to have Cathy Kwan do the illustrations for this piece; I've been following her work for some time, and fortunately she was very open to the idea of collaborating. I think her work brings a nice visual element to the story.
