This was a project I was super hype to do. I had done event posters for this label, Bastard Jazz in New York, so when they asked me to handle the album art (plus design + layout) for a duo comprised of one of the best modern funk + new wave r&b producers, B.Bravo, and one of San Francisco's most soulful crooners, Rojai, I was very much on board.

Design started with thumbnail ideas for both the front/back artwork and album type (essentially their logo). After the artists, label and I were all on the same page, I moved on to rendering a final, which took some time to get poses and likenesses on point. For the tracklist on the back, I requested several samples of handwriting from friends of the label owner because, funny enough, I'm not really into my own handwriting (or at least I wasn't for this project). Next, I moved onto color and some lighting in PS, then text layout for all of the credits and info. Finally, I adapted some of the art elements to the 12" labels to make the design consistent.

Everyone loved the artwork and really felt it captured the vibe of the music: sexy, r&b-tinged funk made for dance floors in dark, underground clubs.
