Happy New Year 2020!
Looking forward to all the new creations in Tokyo this year.
This watercolor painting, "Medetashi/Celebratory" is the January illustration in a series titled "Toshitsuki" that I created last year that illustrates each of the twelve months of the year. In January we have both Shogatsu and Seijinshiki so I painted a figure wearing the winter furisode kimono for celebrations, complete with a bit of a twist on the winter fur stole. This one would be much warmer!
I displayed the full series at a solo exhibition in Kyoto in September 2019, and have illustration books available. Feel free to comment of message me if you are interested in getting a copy.
Pen and watercolor illustrator from the redwood forests of California now exploring the cement forest of Tokyo. Forever inspired by Japan.
I love this! Both the overlapping figures and the nekochan-stole.
