Many thanks to all who joined us at the 4th Sequential Art Meetup on the 22nd of May! We feel really lucky we’ve been able to have this event monthly so far and we owe it all to everyone’s interest, enthusiasm, and cooperation.
We started the meetup by summing up recent comic related events in Japan and overseas that people had participated in or attended (Komikon in Manila, Brave and Bold in Tokyo, and the Stockholm International Comics Festival) and in our first presentation, writer and editor at Everyst Hengtee Lim shared a few of his short story collaborations with artists, and talked about developing stories for the Everyst app. https://fromeveryst.com/
After a brief break, we started the second presentation, by comic book writer Sean Michael Wilson, who talked about his life and work, from his first contact with comics in his childhood to the many books he has written to date! The following Q&A was a great chance for participants to ask Sean questions regarding his experience with collaborations, his thoughts on pitching stories, and how he approaches the writing process.
We hope everyone enjoyed hanging out afterwards, and getting to meet fellow creatives to talk stories, ideas, collaborations, and life in general!
Special thanks to Benjamin Watanabe for letting us use Everyst HQ for the event!
