About me

I translate, write and interpret in Japanese, English and German

I'm experienced in literary translation, consecutive interpreting, subtitling and writing copy.
I've also produced TV programs, commercials and music videos in Japan and acted as local production support for international projects.

In the last year, I've had two Japanese short-stories translations published in English:
Accompanying photographs by legendary artist Daido Moriyama, my translation of "At the Horse Races" (「競馬」) by Oda Sakunosuke was published in the beautiful book "ODASAKU" by Match&Company.
My translation of "The War and a Woman" (「戦争と一人の女」) by Sakaguchi Ango is set to be published in May 2017.

My clients include Toho Studios (my words are in 2016's 'Shin Godzilla' movie), TV Asahi (I interpret for their TV programs and sometimes translate scripts), NHK (my words are in 2016's war drama 'Yuriko-san's Picture Book'), camera & lens maker Sigma, photobook shop shashasha (translation and copy writing), Shueisha Publishing (helped decide which Japanese books would make good candidates for translation) and quite a few more.

I'm a good choice for most projects you can throw at me. Hit me up and we'll discuss things.

    Daido Moriyama: Ango

When the cherry blossoms begin to bloom, people gather below the trees to drink beer and eat snacks. They take strolls along the trees to enjoy the view, enjoy the spr...
