I was asked to contribute a portrait for a book project, Play For a Living, in which quotes by famous people who embraced “play” in their philosophy or life's work would be paired with their portraits made by contemporary artists.
His having been a great inspiration in my own life, I chose to make an image of George Harrison. After completing it, feedback from the authors inspired me to make similar portraits of other subjects who have been deeply influential in my approach to life and personal philosophy, as both teachers and mentors.
George Harrison - a smile of joy, multilayered with images relating to his thoughts on love, life, his connections to India and Krishna Consciousness, and references to song lyrics and the psychedelic Beatles heyday.
Constructed in Photoshop, using photographs taken in India and sample of a press photo from May 22, 1968.
I make photographs, 360-panoramas, composites and collages.
