This took a lot longer than I'd like to admit, so I'll spare you the gorey details.
A painfully detailed vector illustration based on a photograph taken in Kawasaki, Japan.
I'm not sure why exactly I chose this image to work with. Maybe I wanted to challenge myself. Maybe I just hate myself.
Still needs a little work, but striving for perfection is futile.

Crazy. At first I thought it was a photo.
Yeah me too! Might be a good idea to edit the title to show that it's an illustration so people give it a longer look, Danii?
Mark Mcfarlane thanks for the feedback! Done :)
Much better :D
And it's a really cool image by the way! Would love to see how it looks printed in a large format!
Amazing. Great way to improve vector skills and speed! Tried this approach myself, but with much, much simpler images.
Did you use an eyedropper to get the color values or did you guess? I think how the colors are spot on helps make it look real.
Daniel Schallau I used an eyedropper for most of it, but I always had to adjust the colours slightly or they'd be a little 'off'. It's a little awkward with a photograph too because you can shift one pixel to the left and get a completely different colour ;w;
Roman Davydko thank you! Though I can't really say it did much to improve speed ;~; (overall) but I guess I did feel my speed increasing quite a bit as I was working on it
