About me

I'm a UX and Industrial Designer in Tokyo. I work as the UX Director and a Senior industrial at Up Arrows. I also play the drums for various artists as a sessionist and occasionally write articles for various publications. I did my MSc in HCI at UCL and my MA in Industrial Design at Central Saint Martins and have been working in the design industry for just under a decade with fun people like Playstation, Sony Music and even One Direction.

I help run #uxTalkTokyo (uxtalktokyo.com), which is an event to educate attendees in UX methodologies and sometimes other related areas.

If you dig the band My Bloody Valentine, the film ハウス, Kenya Hara, Shadow of the Colossus, horror games, Blade Runner, sushi, Jimmy Corrigan and agree that "Illmatic" is one of the best hip hop albums ever made, we will get on very well indeed.

My Creations

  1. ENDS Starts

    1 July 2015

Image created for the "Ends" Fashion Brand.

I was originally going to photograph this but budgetary constraints made me look for another solution. Seeing as I spend a large amount of my day modelling items in 3D for printing and showing it to clients, I decided to go with a... continue reading (0, 1 image)

  2. This was student-commissioned work for the HMD Charity. These were handmade and cast out of wax, standing between four to six feet tall. The event was attended by survivors of the Holocaust (as well as various MP's looking for photo opps).

  3. For the longest time, I did freelance/in-house/agency work for various different games companies, but most of my work was for PlayStation, of whom I am a lifelong fanboi.

As a split, I'd say of all my gaming work, 80% was pure UX and 20% was related to hardware.

    I also... continue reading (0, 1 image)

  4. Closet Swap

    4 September 2015

First project for inensu back in 2010. This was a commission from Channel 4 TV (UK) to make an app that people could easily swap clothes with each other and learn about sustainable fashion. Designed all wireframes for web and iOS, wrote copy and worked with my super-talented CEO and... continue reading (0, 1 image)

  5. Selected Musical Works 2002-

    4 September 2015

I'm lucky enough to have been involved with some excellent musicians over the years as a band member and as a sessionist.

My longest tenure as a session drummer was Dev Hynes, who I worked with from 2006-2008. ( https://youtu.be/0XH-uL0ZJTk?t=216 ) That led to some work with Florence and the... continue reading (0, 1 image)
