About me

I'm originally from Portland, Oregon, relocated to Tokyo in 2000. Fluent in Japanese and immersed in the local culture. My experiences include:

Project and Team Manager:
I manage projects and teams for an English School / Services with 200+ staff members operating at 28 locations in the Tokyo Metropolis. I have experience with HR, training, content management, curriculum development, website design & implementation, marketing, sales-pitches, multimedia production, budgeting and more.

Web Designer:
I help small businesses and organization get online by designing and implementing websites for them. I'm all about making simple sites that are easy to maintain for developers and non-developers alike.

Film Translator / Localizer:
I work on projects localizing films to include Japanese / English subtitles. I tend to focus on independent films, including documentaries on music / art icons. Some are award winning.

Record Label Operator:
I own and operate a cassette tape label called Union Pole. Started in 1993, I eventually brought the entire catalog of 76 cassettes and 7 vinyl releases online - unionpole.com - with the premise that the entire 4GB catalog of music could be downloaded for $1.

    Produced and edit the Japanese subtitled version of this documentary film about artist / musician Tony Conrad. Secured rights and created partnerships with the director and producers. Organized and promoted screenings across Japan featuring live music performances by Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke and others.
