On a bright autumn day last October, I had the opportunity to take a walk around Shibamata (柴又) in northeastern Tokyo. This nostalgic neighborhood evokes an "old-Tokyo" feeling even to the present day, and makes for a pleasant way to spend the time looking into some of the old shops that have been in business for many generations - or to sample some local food specialties such as Eel on Rice, Senbei Crackers or, as seen in this photo, some good ol' Yakitori.
