Editorial Illustration: Defenders of the Faith

7 December 2017 ● 1 min read ● 3 images

Done for a Caribbean Beat editorial that explores the tribulations faced by the early-day Spiritual Baptists of Trinidad and Tobago. The article goes on to reveal how they overcame a ban put in place a century ago by the colonial legislature of that era.

Graphite drawings of the various elements used in the illustration.

I used Staedtler B, 2B and 4B pencils along with a Mono Zero and my creepy kneaded eraser sidekick.

The components were later assembled and coloured in Photoshop.

Manipulated paint drips that were later reincarnated as Photoshop brushes.

Some were used in conjunction with a few other stock brushes to help create the composition.
