DERIVE OST by Ayden Walters | Canvas Tokyo

I was approached by Cody to produce a piece that would feature on derive.tokyo and accompany his visual work. Using his photography as a guide I first created a small number of musical sketches in ableton live and using various synthesizers. For the final piece, I used time stretching and granular synthesis to source a texture from the earlier sketches, before adding a simple, wandering melody and a melancholic bass.
