About me

Konnichiwa all, I'm Rie, the media coordinator for Outdoor Japan Media, a media and publishing company focused on promoting travel, tourism and outdoor lifestyle in Japan. I produce editorial and multimedia content (photography, videography, graphic/logo design, writing), develop marketing campaigns, and do a lil bit of sales.
I also freelance as a graphic designer and photographer, and have recently started blogging.
Love to travel, eat, hike, read, and meet awesome people like you.
Looking to collab and be inspired by other Tokyo creatives! Domo.

My Creations

  1. Website Makeover 2016

    23 December 2015

Gearing up for 2016, I gave my website a new look at www.riemiyoshi.com. Front+back-end design/coding and logo revamp.

  2. Autumn in Japan

    10 December 2015

I've had this design in mind for several months now from my various hikes and road trips around the country. Inspired by all the things that make autumn in Japan beautiful: susuki (Japanese silver grass), cedar tree forests, kouyou (leaves changing color), uni (sea urchin), waves, and sunsets that stretch... continue reading (0, 1 image)

  3. Red-Nosed Reindeer

    18 December 2015

🎄Latest graphic design work...burning the midnight oil designing holiday greeting cards feat. Rudolph. Merry Christmas!

  4. Chasing Waterfalls

    27 September 2015

Hiked to Hyakuhirono Falls in Okutama - a nice day trip from metropolitan Tokyo. Lowest ISO settings, f stop 22, long exposure for that dreamy effect. Took around 2.5 hours hike from the station to the falls. Lots of climbing and scrambling to get to the falls but so worth... continue reading (0, 1 image)

  5. Exposure

    14 December 2015

While December is a festive month for most of us, it can also be a bad time in Japan: the year's ending so people are stressing out about work and nightly bonenkai parties where everyone gets completely inebriated are happening everywhere
A few nights ago, I happened to witness a... continue reading (1, 1 image)

  6. Suspense

    27 September 2015

Suspension bridge on the Takao-san hike. Was tricky catching the lighting since it was a foggy day, but the skies cleared up a bit for this one.

  7. Starry Tokyo Night

    27 September 2015

Double exposure. Just another take straying from the typical Tokyo night sky shot.

  8. Chinatown in Typhoon

    27 September 2015

This was during typhoon season this September, but that didn't stop us from exploring Yokohama's Chinatown. Anyway, I take portraits too. Contact if interested!

  9. Apparel Design

    27 September 2015

Apparel design I worked on for The Surfer's Journal Japan edition to celebrate their 5th anniversary.

  10. Old Japan in New Tokyo

    27 September 2015

One of the best parts about Japan is the perfect combination of traditional and modern. Love strolling through the Showa-reminiscent Nonbei Alley, just 3 minutes away from the neon-crazed Shibuya Scramble.

  11. Sunset Surf with Mt. Fuji

    27 September 2015

Landscape shot taken at Chigasaki. Barely anyone was out. This view at sunset never ceases to amaze.

  12. Another example of apparel design to celebrate being a Hamakko (people from Yokohama).
