About me

I love the challenge of art making that involves provoking thought from within and out, paying attention to noticing.
I received my training in conceptual art principles from California Institute of the Arts starting in 1978, graduating in 1986 with an MFA. My background in Fine Arts and Photography gave me the intellectual tools to approach and use Photography as a medium. There I refined my skills incorporating conceptual applications to social, obscure and suggestive environmental surroundings into photographs.
My main influences at Cal Arts were John Baldessari and Doug Huebler. Recent exhibitions include: See|Exhibition Space 26-19 Jackson Avenue Long Island City, Queens New York, N.Y ., “See.Me Creatives Rising”, N.Y.C, where my works were projected 30 stories high on building exteriors, Meguro Museum of Art Gallery, Tokyo, Japan, October 9-14, 2013-7-2020 with "8X10" Camera Group". Artists invites internationally include: Cans Serrat, Barcelona, May, 2017, A.I.R. Vallauris Gallery, France, 2014, where I exhibited inter-active mixed media installations that incorporated photographic projections onto wall and floor space, creating depth, suggestive environmental circumstances, that inter-weaved one's shadow silhouette. Received a Visiting Artist Resident grant. Watashi wa nihongo o benkyō shite imasu.

Catching oneself noticing something is the genuine origin for an idea. Passing this led to ponder a multitude of thoughts, not to mention the wonder of the circumstance on the other side, seeing the crutches in the upper right and ambiance of atmosphere. My mentor at Cal Arts once told... continue reading (0, 1 image)
