About me

初めまして! I'm Carlos, a Canadian illustrator based in Toronto.
I love travelling and implementing concepts of the new, the exciting, and the exotic into my various works. My methods may be unconventional at times, and that is what I love the most about it!
I frequently travel to Tokyo and Osaka to depict various elements of modern Japanese culture through live sketches I do on the go, on trains, and near busy intersections (Primarily Shibuya). When I return to Canada, I gather up my findings and refine them, create large paintings, or use elements of collage to properly depict my particular view of Tokyo; a crowded wonderland of fascinating people within fascinating locations. I have had my work appear on a few TV shows as well as various galleries within Tokyo.

Go out there and make the day your very own, any day that you can.

My Creations

  1. Shibuya scraps

    30 June 2015

A collage I made using various pieces of artwork I have done while in Shibuya, and some digital work as well.

  2. Tokyo Maze

    30 June 2015

A fun piece I did for the Japan Illustrator's Association, describing some of my favourite elements of Tokyo in an isometric aesthetic. This depicts my particular view of Tokyo; organized, yet very chaotic and exciting!

  3. Yopparai Salaryman

    30 June 2015

酔っぱらいサラリーマン! I have always been fascinated with Salaryman culture, so I made a design using various drunk and passed out salarymen that I have seen and sketched while on my travels in Tokyo.

  4. Shibuya Smiling

    30 June 2015

My first time in Shibuya was nothing short of overwhelming; I did many sketches, and took them back to Canada to make this large 2 foot by 3 foot acrylic piece.
