Thanks very much to everyone who came along to Artist Talks: Winter Edition at Good Heavens British Bar Tokyo on Monday night, especially to the artists for sharing their work this way.

We saw Esther Brakenhoff’s Cover Ups of censored locations sourced from online maps, Maarten Schuurman’s portable accommodation, his stages and his audio installations, as well as their collaborative project at Ayumi Gallery Cave Gallery in Kagurazaka. https://shiftoperationtokyo.cargo.site/Info

Louise Rouse shared prints of fragmented portraits and the artist book she made after meeting Japanese artist Rokudenashiko. Louise is hosting an edit-a-thon on Friday 6th March to redress the balance of women artists listed on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/…/…/Japan/TUJ_Art_and_Feminism_2020

And we learned about Gabriela Lopez Dena’s practice. Working within the built environment she has organised public interventions where workers have read texts aloud. She is currently working on a project at 3331 Arts Chiyoda that connects items found by walking the route of Oedo Line. For more information, please check the schedule https://www.3331.jp/schedule/en/
