19:30 〜 19:55 The Pragmatic Hanami Kazuki Baba

Hanami is a modern web framework for Ruby. This presentation will cover the basics of Hanami, explain its philosophy from the prospective of Domain Driven Design, and talk about my experiences using it to develop an internal corporate application. I’ll also go over some of the common issues when developing with Hanami, such as using third party gems, dealing with timezones and internationalization, integrating WebPack, and so on.

Born in 1989, I live in Chiba. For the last five years, I’ve using Ruby on Rails professionally, but recently I’ve started using Hanami and other programming languages. I’m the author of http://magazine.rubyist.net/?0056-hanami. As I’m not a fan of commuting, I work remotely, and want to continue to do so.

Did you know that Ruby has configurable modules? Long ignored, this remarkable feature is also among Ruby’s least well-known. In this talk I’ll explain how “Module Builders” create named, customizable modules to include in other classes using nothing more than subclassing and dynamic method definition. I'll demonstrate the power of this pattern through examples from some well-known gems.
