When the going gets tough, we are told to hang in there, keep trying and persist against all odds. Sometimes our persistence will carry us through and we will be better off for it. We are rewarded, or we grow a bit more resilient. At other times, we may feel we have no choice but to continue on the current path. We may feel pressured to stay in a miserable situation because we are financially dependent. We may feel obliged to stick it out in a toxic relationship because we've done so for years, or because we don't consider any other option. In these cases, giving up can be the healthiest option for us.
What does it take to persist through trying times, through the seemingly impossible, and when is it better to give up?
This night we will reflect on stories on the theme of Persistence and Giving Up.
