  • BIJxBIS January Meetup: Integrated Resorts and Casinos

Business in Japan and Business is Social are excited to team up for our first networking event in 2017; January 30th, being held again at the fantastic Mixx Bar at the ANA InterContinental hotel. Our guest will speak for a few minutes followed by a group Q&A and social networking after.

We are very excited for our next event as we continue to build a diverse group of speakers and topics.

This month we have just one, mystery speaker, but he is a great addition to our growing list of speakers.

At the end of 2016 the Japanese government passed the Integrated Resorts (Casino) Bill after many years of trying. This sets the stage for enormous foreign IR investment ($10b-$30b), as well as extraordinary land development projects throughout Japan.

Our mystery speaker is working in the industry and will provide a high level overview of the recently passed IR (Integrated Resorts) bill. He will also highlight some of the potential opportunities and challenges still awaiting IR development in Japan. The talk is in English but the speaker also speaks 日本語 fluently, so questions in English/Japanese are OK.

Our 'Mystery Speaker' is from an Industry closely involved in Integrated resort development.

Having worked in Japan for over a decade, and currently in new business development targeting global companies and retail brands entering Japan as well as project coordination for development projects, our speaker is well positioned to know the current status and surrounding story. In recent years, he has closely followed the progress of Japan's Integrated Resort legislation including participation in seminars and visits to large-scale integrated resort properties throughout the Asia Pacific.

Business in Japan and Business is Social intend to run events on a regular basis, so keep an eye out for more of them here in this group, and to make sure you don't miss them in the future, you can register at either or both of these Event Management links:

    BIS@MEETUP(http://www.meetup.com/Business-is-Social/)

The BIS x BIJ events strive to create a networking community for business professionals that want to make substantive contacts that turn into relationships and real business. By offering more networking opportunities than standard networking groups, we bring more than typical business card exchange events. Our focus will be on monthly downtown Tokyo events with topic or industry specific guest speakers. Feedback on the type of speakers or industry you want future events to focus on welcome.

For a nijikai, a second party venue near the ANA in Akasaka was introduced called 'CHILLAX' by Keiko-san who took some of us there for a 2nd party at the end of one event. Folks are welcome to go there after this event too: Address: 〒106-0032 Tokyo, Minato, Roppongi, 4 Chome−8−4 〒106-0032 アルガ 六本木 ビル 4 階Map Link: https://goo.gl/maps/9VXX3VqZg6P2

This is not definite nor part of the BIJxBIS Event series, just a suggestion of a place that is not to close by where the drinks are more affordable than at a 5 Star hotel!
