About Ichijiku:

Ichijiku is a Tokyo-based sustainable, ethical ultra luxury brand which creates one of a kind bespoke apparel and accessories from the highest quality antique kimonos.

The brand originated in Kyoto, where the founder, Aaron Benjamin, was gifted a collection of antique silk kimonos by a woman who lived and worked in the historic Gion district. It was the desire to share the incredible beauty of these fabrics with the rest of the world that prompted Aaron to start Ichijiku.

Ichijiku envisions a world where kindness is valued over anything else—a world free of gender norms, abuse, and destruction. It is a world where cultures are appreciated, rather than appropriated. Finally, it is a world where fashion and art intersect, resulting in garments that carry memories from the past, and create new memories for the future.

Background:

Ichijiku is entering its next stage of growth, prompted by the establishment of its Tokyo flagship Lounge in Yoyogi Uehara, and its launch of a global retail partner network.

We are hoping to hire an English/Japanese bilingual intern to assist Miyuki with the day-to-day operations of the Ichijiku Lounge, customer interactions (email, phone), and to act as a creative advisor to the brand. About Ichijiku

Who We Are

Ichijiku (一軸) began in 2018 as a collection of 30 exquisite vintage kimonos gifted to us by a woman from Kyoto’s historic Gion district. Shortly later, the first Ichijiku necktie was born. Today, Ichijiku is best known for its Kimono Bespoke line of custom-order suiting, which combines age-old tailoring methods with vintage kimono silk to create one-of-a-kind wearable works of art.

Ichijiku is driven by sustainable and ethical practices.

- 99%+ of Ichijiku pieces are made using existing vintage kimono fabrics
- All Ichijiku Kimono Bespoke pieces are created on a per-order basis
- Ichijiku cotton canvas bags and washi paper packaging are designed to last a lifetime
- Leftover fabric is either kept on an exclusive basis for customers to use (for handmade bespoke orders) or used for other pieces
- Ichijiku offers cleaning, repair, alterations, re-dyeing, re-weaving, and other services to extend the life of our pieces

Ethical
- All Ichijiku pieces are made in Japan, with supply chain traceability from the point of raw material production
