About me

I've been working in the film industry in every possible capacity for the last 20 years. I've made tea, I've written scripts, I've managed locations, I've worked as a DP on many TV shows, I've directed many corporates and commercials around the world, I've edited through many nights, and I've loved every minute of it.
I'm Sam, I'm 40, born in London, to an English mother and Mexican father (dual nationality). I lived in England most of my life, studied painting and writing at the City of Bath Royal school of Art and Design, which I felt provided me with a great foundation upon which to build a filmmaking career. I then moved to U.S.A. (Los Angeles and Dallas), spent 10 years working in Cabo San Lucas and Baja California, Mexico. Fell in love with Tokyo on a documentary shoot here four years ago, and here I am. While I often work freelance and am available as such, I also operate an international corporate production company, OriginFilm.
I am very adaptable to new and diverse environments, I love new creative challenges and working with others. I'm easy going and friendly and love teamwork and collaboration. I'm a good timekeeper, and consider myself respectful and professional. I am also equipped with my own filmmaking gear; Sony CineAlta F5, Lumix S1H, BlackMagic 6k Cinema Camera, and plenty of other toys sufficient for most productions.
I love black and white photography, mountain biking, cooking, hiking, painting, reading, and spending time drinking coffee and enjoying Tokyo with my wife in my free time. Not necessarily in that order.
