I'm a designer who has loved talking about design just as much as I've enjoyed toiling away on it myself. From my first design critique in college to being a creative director here in Tokyo, what I love so much about design is how malleable it is. What a pleasure it is to work on a talented design team, hammering away on ideas, challenging each other and solving problems.

After dealing with the limitations of type on the web, it's very refreshing to get some time on something flat, simple and controllable like a poster. Another poster for some musician friends back in Chicago. They're rather theatrical and often have themed shows – this was for a show based on a series of songs written about a Lucifer-esque character's fall from grace.

The band I often do posters for evolves their sound for each live show, so I like to change the style of the poster as well. Here's the most recent where they were featuring multiple female vocal leads with a synth-based sound (contrary to their normal setup).
