My Creations

  1. Inu Hariko

    15 August 2021

A little mixed media painting done to start using up my old acrylics.
I want to do more mini paintings like this and hopefully end up with a set of Japan-themed, square paintings in this style.

  2. Celtic Daruma

    23 January 2023

Inspired by daruma and using Celtic runes in place of Japanese kanji.

Painted using Sumi, Japanese watercolours and pigment paints.

More shots of these are over on my Instagram: kaptinkatatonic

    2022

  3. House on the Hill

    28 February 2022

A little Sumi x gesso painting.

  4. Daffodil

    21 October 2017

Something from way back at university. A daffodil character, part of a set of four, one flower for every season.
Daffodil plays his trumpet to announce the start of spring while Snowdrop watches in awe.

  5. Illustrations with a Richard Scarry influence and redesigned homework book cover for English school.
Books are aimed roughly at ages 5-7 and were rolled out from the 1st of April this year.

  6. Japanese Woman #1

    17 June 2021

    Starting to use Japanese paints.

  7. Trying new pens.

  8. 切り絵 - Tanjirou

    19 June 2021

Decided to put my now never-to-be-used-professionally paper-cut training to use and make a silhouette of Tanjirou. The frame I made too out of wooden chopsticks painted with Sumi ink to look like charcoal.
