About me

I am a freelance photographer based in Tokyo. I try to create an atmosphere in which people can relax and allow a part of themselves to be captured in their portraits. I love exploring new locations and finding just the right spot for my photo shoots. In my free time I like walking around with my camera and recording Tokyo's amazing architecture.

My Creations

  1. Tokyo Dancing 1

    3 May 2016

Part of a series of photos involving dancers in urban settings.

  2. Tokyo Dancing 2

    7 May 2016

I have been shooting candid portraits of dancers in the past few weeks. This is from yesterday's session with an amazing dancer/model in Yurakucho.

  3. Rising Sun

    13 May 2016

4.30AM on a Sunday morning, Shirahama Beach, Izu. After struggling to get out of bed and stumbling along the rocky path leading to the beach, I had just enough time to complain about how early it was and mumble to myself "This better be good". It certainly was.

  4. Children 1

    3 May 2016

A young girl holding a fallen maple leaf on her way back from the park. Part of a family shoot last autumn.

  5. Feeling connected

    3 May 2016

A couple of expecting parents sitting on the grass, listening to their baby through a stethoscope.

  6. Tokyo Rainbow Pride

    10 May 2016

From Sunday's Rainbow Pride Parade in Yoyogi.

  7. Maiko girls

    6 June 2016

I spent most of last week in Kyoto, attending iStockalypse, an event organized by Getty Images. Dozens of participants from all over the world, exciting shoots at amazing locations and lots of great photos as a result. This one is from a side shoot one of the local photographers offered... continue reading (0, 1 image)

  8. Scander

    7 July 2016
    Scander

My favourite part of any photo shoot is when people forget there is a camera pointed at them and have a real human moment.

  9. Stock photography in action

    8 September 2016

It's always nice to see where your work ends up but with stock photography things can get really awkward sometimes. A few months ago I had a friend pose for a series of portraits that I then used in my stock portfolio. She was happy to sign the release after... continue reading (1, 1 image)

  10. Woman in Gambian dress

    23 September 2016

Portrait of a young woman of Gambian descent, wearing one of her mother's traditional dresses. Brought up in NY as the child of immigrants she herself ended up in Japan, a long way from home.

  11. The past few months

    17 October 2016
     The past few months

Things have been busy enough in the past few months that I haven't really had a chance to take a step back and look at what was happening. With my favourite season app...

  12. Ruins

    29 November 2016

This old, abandoned house in Oia is in line with Santorini's main architectural elements yet not what one expects to see in the island's most popular settlement. It sits alone in a sea of well-maintained villas and churches, letting time and nature take their course, giving passersby a glimpse of... continue reading (0, 1 image)

  13. Natural look portraits

Natural light, little or no makeup, as little editing as possible.

  15. Baptiste

    16 February

In the past few months I have been looking for new people to work with for a variety of projects. Baptiste, a French finger drummer and recent addition to the international community in Tokyo, was introduced to me by a mutual acquaintance who is also a delight to work with... continue reading (0, 1 image)
