About me

In my drawings, I'm looking for the essence/emotion of what the story or illustration is about. Focusing on that, the line and the use of black versus white become the tools to get the mesage transmitted. Color is used when it's needed and when it will add an extra dimension to what is to be told.

    Page from the graphic novel Tewodros, commissioned by Jeroen Bos. Tewodros is a king from Ethiopia who died in 1868 and is considered to be the first king to rule an united Ethiopia. The book consists of 150 pages.

  4. Sketching for a new story, this character is going to play an important role. She also features on my business card.

  5. Entrepeneur Harvey van der Heijde was looking for a way to do the sales of Hunter boots and other items of their product line in the Netherlands. For his pitch at the head office in London, this illustration was made.

    For a boy called Joep, this birth card was made. The text on the card is a quotation from Dutch writer Toon Tellegen and is about a squirrel and a giraffe who are setting of on a journey to explore the world.
