David

This sculpture is part of a series of sculptures created using discarded and found objects and based on the human figure. I most often finds my materials in the streets and alleys of my Denver neighborhood, which I then weave, twist, tie, bend, and wrap together to create my works.

This piece is titled “David” in reference to Michelangelo’s David. I draw the inspiration for many of the figures in Bodies from Classical Antiquity. By evoking this elegant figure in a form made of trash, I seek to create a dichotomy between beauty and excessive waste.
