「Moon」 Film Festival Selection

「Moon」 Film Festival Selection

I am very pleased to announce that my short film 「Moon」has been selected to screen in the following festivals:

1. Mt. Fuji-Atami Film & VR Festival (June 28 - July 1)
2. Tokyo Lift-off Film Festival (Online Screening, May 27 - June 2)

It was a rather fun experience creating it from scratch mostly alone. Writing the script, drafting an animation storyboard, picking an apt royalty-free soundtrack, building the imagined setting in Blender, drawing the keyframes, in-betweening, converting the 3D background into hand-painted 2D, colouring the frames, dubbing the characters, post-processing, designing the publication materials, and finally submitting it to film festivals proved to be a daunting yet exciting 2-month experience. I would say that this is the price of full creative freedom, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't have made it without my good friend Teppei who reviewed and edited the Japanese script it to sound more natural and my friend from Australia who sent a short recording of her saying "怖い" since my attempt for converting my voice with a Kate Winslet-pre-trained AI model (see reference; a rather interesting project by Dabi Ahn and Kyubyong Park) was incomplete due to time constraints.

To more exciting projects!
