Ninenzaka (Kyoto)

16 April 2018 ● less than 1 min read ● 1 image

A digital drawing of the Ninenzaka hill in Kyoto from 2014, based on a pencil sketch. Completed after a nighttime visit to the area; inspired and informed by 1960s Japanese cinema.

Really nice, which 60s films/directors were you inspired by particularly?

Darren Gore Thank you. Sword of Doom (大菩薩峠) and Onibaba (鬼婆) especially, but also Kurosawa's films more generally.
