“Into Stoas” is an ongoing research project emerged from the mapping of the passage exits located in the commercial triangle of Athens. Natassa Pappa, graphic designer and author of the city guide “Into Stoas – Athens Walkthrough”, connects the exits by following the old often overlooked exit signs and takes you on a trip through the most interesting passageways in the heart of Athens. 

Find yourself in the intermediate of the Athenian urban fabric, visit the interior of buildings and discuss with shop owners the life and business in the passageways.

The lecture analyzes the vernacular visual communication in the intermediate of the urban fabric, the characteristics of the passageways and the manner in which people navigate and experience the city. During the 2-hour walk, participants will have the opportunity to explore these hidden pathways and follow the history of the city’s commercial activity through unique professional classes which do not survive elsewhere.
