Spear case 槍桐箱

19 July 2017 ● 1 min read ● 5 images

Commission of a display case for an ancient spear.

Wood and technique: Paulownia 桐, handcrafted hidden joints.

Features: sliding lid, hand carved crest on lid.

Interesting notes:

We had a special licence issued to hold onto this piece and while a licence is not needed to have and use a three times larger fish knife, this blade is considered a weapon. The price for sharpening the spear goes over ¥300,000. Since there is not intention of using it, I'll try to get the commission to just make it shine for a far more manageable price.

This is so cool!

Great work!
