A quick editorial header illustration for a guide to worldwide wine festivals in a recent issue of the Financial Times.
Even though editorial work usually requires an impossible turn around, I find it to be quite enjoyable as, in my experience, you get quite a bit of freedom in making the final image. The Art director is usually juggling a million deadlines and doesn't have the time go back and forth with changes so you're free to experiment a little more (or draw the things that you want to draw). Many of the changes in style of my work have come through experimenting when working on editorials.
I'm an illustrator from the UK currently living in Tokyo. I specialize in cityscapes, hand drawn lettering and observational illustration.
