桐箪笥・Paulownia Chest

It took me about 4 months to design and handmade this piece, it's made of the famous Kiri-wood (Paulownia) used in traditional Japanese drawers chest. For this piece I replaced the large drawers for a system of stackable inner boxes for shelfs and incorporate paper sliding door taking elements from the traditional Shōji.

They look so cool! I'm glad I got to see them in person before they go to the client. You must be very happy to have finished them! :)

Really cool!

Thanks !
Mark Mcfarlane Yes, very happy ! It was a wonderful opportunity to learn. Being my first custom made furniture, it also make me proud and encourage me to improve. - dreaming of mastering traditional Japanese hand tools.
