COMIC ART TOKYO
How art, craft and industry come together to create comics.
This year's CAT will take place on July, 31st at 3331 Arts Chiyoda.
What is CAT?
Comic Arts Tokyo is a one day festival organised by Tokyo based publisher James Stacey (Black Hook Press, curator at the Hakusen gallery in Asagaya), Adam Pasion, and myself.
The main goal of the festival is to promote zine and comic culture in Japan. Artists and panelists are both Japan and foreign, making CAT a unique crossroad of cultures and art.
Comic art Tokyo is focused on all aspects of comic, from art (aka illustration, lettering, coloring, graphic design, cover design...),
to its link with the industry (relations with publishers, economic environment...),
to and crafting a physical object.
The festival revolves around 3 axis, as we aim at attracting young creators and young/innovative industry actors.
I have mainly been involved with planning and coordinating the festival, as project planning has been my main activity over the past three years, especially in the book industry.
This being the first edition, we have been working on creating contents that would attract the creative community in Tokyo, providing insight on how to work as a freelance artist in Japan through a panel, offering several workshops, and exhibitions.
If you like illustration and comic books, please come to CAT, the event is free!!
Cultural event project manager. Fashion and art enthusiast, occasional photography model.
Looking forward to this event!!!
