Solo exhibition at Bunkitsu Roppongi in Tokyo has started! Please come to visit when you are around. 

The exhibition at BUNKITSU Roppongi showcases “Color of Attitude”, an experimental textile design project with using vegetable wastes as dyes, by Shioka Okamoto. The works on display are created with extracted dyes from inedible parts of vegetable waste from everyday life, and challenged to capture soft and warm colors through a yearlong research. The project compiled diverse colors from the waste, by questioning the known natural dyeing method which consumes large amount of resources and plants to gain specific colors.

文喫・六本木にてテキスタイルデザイナー岡本汐加による制作を展示する。本展で公開される”Color of Attitude”は、日常生活から発生する野菜等の不可食部を染料として制作した実験的テキスタイルデザインプロジェクトである。本来ならば「ゴミ」の部分をすぐに捨てるのではなく、色として記録し作品に落とし込むことに挑戦した。特定の色を追求する従来の天然染色方法は、特定の植物を染料として使用するために大量消費する。本プロジェクトでは、それとは異なる色彩群を期待し「ありのままの色」を取得することを目的とした。会場では、制作プロセスと作品をあわせて展示する。
