Rainbow Turtle

Rainbow Turtle

Starting with dots, I wondered if I could make a 3D lattice shape. It worked out okay, so I wanted to add a contrasting background. I connected a few of the outer dots with concave lines, to offset the straight lines. Hmm, maybe some not-so-curvy lines to offset them. Hmm, if I keep going, will I be able to create crisp rivers where the angles are stacked up? Let's see! So I kept adding curves around the curves, trying carefully to keep the angles clean.

All done by hand, all with permanent markers. Any mistakes must be worked into the piece!

Upon its completion, Tomoko said it looked like a turtle swimming in the rainbow sea.
